Shedding the city lights the night before with hopes of a chance short period swell the next morning. The weather report held up to its end of the bargain with a crispness to the air and offshore winds. The beginning to a time of year when the heater in the car is on high and warmth comes in the way from sips of coffee and a familiar tune flowing over the airwaves. Pulling up to the first checkpoint offered up nothing more than poor dribbles on the shoreline. From where we stood, some sand formed a point to the east and in the distance the blur of waves against a rising sun could be seen. A short drive around the bend and a walk over the dunes revealed a small clean A-frame pealing in either direction over a shallow sandbar with not a soul in sight. An extremely tidal break, it only worked for an hour or so before being reduced to only a memory in our minds.
